Pieterjan Van Kerckhoven

 

In 2006, Pieterjan begins with lessons Flemish Bagpipes at the academy of music in Sint-Niklaas with Bart Van Troyen. One year later he enters Lemmensinstituut in Leuven where he studies with Jean-Pierre Van Hees. It is there that he gets in contact with the musette. In 2011 he obtains his Master degree and two years later a degree of Master of Arts (specialization musette) and a Master Chambermusic. During his studies he also follows masterclasses with Jean-Christophe Maillard in Leuven and Toulouse. 

 

As bagpipe and saxophone player, Pieterjan plays in several folkbands: Surpluz, EmBRUN  and WÖR.  On the musette he is active with the ensemble Les Menus Plaisirs du Roy and together with Bart Van Troyen he founded the Bourdon Collectief in 2013.
