Pieterjan Van Kerckhoven

Court musette

In 2006, Pieterjan began lessons in Flemish bagpipes at the music academy of Sint-Niklaas with Bart Van Troyen. One year later he entered the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven, where he studied with Jean-Pierre Van Hees. It was there that he came into contact with the musette. In 2011 he obtained his Master's degree and, two years later, a Master of Arts degree (specialisation: musette) and a Master in Chamber Music. During his studies he also followed masterclasses with Jean-Christophe Maillard in Leuven and Toulouse.

As a bagpipe and saxophone player, Pieterjan plays in several folk bands: Surpluz, EmBRUN and WÖR. On the musette he is active with the ensemble Les Menus-Plaisirs du Roy, and together with Bart Van Troyen he founded the Bourdon Collectief in 2013.
