Viola da gamba
Born in Japan, she began playing the violin at the age of 3 and took up the viola da gamba at the age of 12 with the pioneer of the instrument in Japan, Toshinari Ohashi. After a diploma in Tokyo, she moved to Brussels to study with Wieland Kuijken. She then settled in Belgium and became one of the most sought-after gamba players in Europe, regularly performing and recording in chamber settings with, among others, Le Poème Harmonique, Les Talens Lyriques and Christophe Rousset, Les Arts Florissants, Cantus Cölln, the Bach Society in Holland, and the Ricercar Consort. She is regularly invited as a soloist by the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam.
