Fredrik Hildebrand
Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Fredrik Hildebrand studied the cello from the age of 16. Two years later he turned to the viola da gamba and to early-music practice. After a few years of private lessons, he settled in Brussels to study with Philippe Pierlot at the Royal Conservatory, from which he graduated with distinction. On receiving his master's degree, Fredrik also became a laureate of the prestigious Ingeborg Köberle prize, awarded by the Royal Conservatory to the student considered the most promising of the year. Fredrik Hildebrand has performed with, among others, Philippe Pierlot, Kaori Uemura, Céline Scheen, Giovanna Pessi, Aapo Häkkinen, Wim Becu, Eric van Nevel, Aline Zylberajch, El Grillo and BachPlus. In 2015 he founded his own ensemble, Lux Beata, in order to explore the music for viola da gamba in all its forms and combinations, in early as well as contemporary repertoires.
