Kaori Uemura, viola da gamba

Born in Japan, she began playing the violin at the age of 3 and began playing the viola at the age of 12, with the pioneer of this instrument in Japan: Toshinari Ohashi. After graduating in Tokyo, she went to Brussels and studied with Wieland Kuijken. She then settled in Belgium and became one of the most sought-after gambists in Europe, playing and recording regularly in chamber groups with, among others, Le Poème Harmonique, Les Talens Lyriques and Christophe Rousset, Les Arts Florissants, Cantus Cölln, Bach society in Holland, or the Ricercar Consort.
She is regularly invited as a soloist by the Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam.
