Gwendoline Spies

Belgian soprano Gwendoline Spies began playing the piano at the age of 5. A few years later, she revealed the first notes of her vocation for singing by joining the children's choir La Sonatine d'Arlon.
After a solid training at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussels , she obtained with distinction a diploma in classical singing as well as a diploma in musical pedagogy at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.

As a soloist, she performs in recitals throughout the Greater Region, England, Spain and Switzerland in collaboration with various orchestras and chamber music ensembles. She also collaborates with several Belgian chamber choirs.
She is currently part of the Dillens trio (clarinet-voice-piano) and the vocal ensemble Satin Swingers (vocal trio "in close harmony") with which she experiments with the hidden meanders of her instrument: her voice!

She cooperates with the Lille Opera, the Lille National Orchestra, the Belgian National Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Liège, the Ensemble Musiques Nouvelles, the Ictus Ensemble, Bozar and Flagey in Brussels for educational projects.

Winner of the "Godefroid Jeunes 2013", recognized as "young talent 2011-2012" in the Province of Luxembourg and revealed "Coup de cœur" as a soloist at the Royal Juillet Musical (Festival de Wallonie) in July 2014, the soprano is currently pursuing a musical career oscillating between a repertoire that is sometimes classical, sometimes fanciful and does not hesitate to exploit the different facets of her voice.
